The first one is FMG. Look at what happened on the 6th Dec. The Short Interest dropped by 15M. Only 13M shares were traded on that day of which about 4M were shorts. The price didn't even budge. Looks like a matter of concern to me.
Look at ERA where the same was seen again on 15 Dec.
There may be a logical reason for them but it certainly looks very fishy to me. One reason suggested was that someone has actually borrowed the shares but not sold them. They held onto them for months and then gave them back.
But the charts to me are still concerning.
