U.S. International Port Selects Bioscrypt and AMAG to Provide Technology for Key Security Initiative
Multi-factor Authentication Solution to Heighten Security Measures at International Port

Toronto, ON, March 15, 2006 – Bioscrypt Inc., a leader in identity verification technologies, announced today that a US based international port has selected AMAG Technology’s S813 Biometric and Smart Card reader, which features Bioscrypt’s MV1200 embedded solution, to help increase security at one of the busiest port areas in the United States. The new multifactor authentication solution will allow the port to adjust the level of security at access points in real-time, adding biometric requirements as threat levels increase.

“When public safety and the country’s economic well being are at risk, ensuring that those holding ID badges are indeed who they claim to be is critical. This is best achieved through a combination of biometrics and smart card technology,” said Sapna Capoor, Analyst, Frost & Sullivan. “The importance of multifactor authentication is finally being realized in the majority of industries but more so in the government security industry.”

As part of the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program, all personnel requiring unescorted physical and/or logical (cyber) access to secure areas of the U.S. national transportation system must provide biometric and identity information when the threat level is elevated.

“Our joint solution with Bioscrypt offers the unique combination of award-winning biometric algorithm software, paired with a contactless Smart Card reader that can be configured flexibly,” said AMAG President, Bob Sawyer. “This combination enables the port to meet TWIC security requirements without disrupting the flow of cargo.”

“We are very pleased to be working on this project – it’s a great fit for us because we’re involved with a number of other Homeland Security and TWIC initiatives,” said Robert L. Williams, President and CEO, Bioscrypt. “Moving to an RFID Smart Card system will enable the port to add the requirement of biometric credentialing on-demand. This multi-factor authentication ensures that those accessing secure areas are properly authorized cardholders, especially during times of heightened threat.”
