    Hi BiggDaddy,

An excellent post - you're an acute observer of human behaviour. You could be writing a book on the Sociology of the Stock Forum as well as a humorous column for a Men's Mag.

Me? A Big Boy? Laughable really. I'm just an old codger who lives down the street spending much of his time looking after his grand-daughters.

You're right about me looking for a low - but always with the caveats - the trend is the trend... Don't pre-empt the market.

There are others on here who use methods I typify as "Weird Stuff That Sometimes Works" - those of an Italianate Bent who dabble in the occult arts of Fibonacci, those of an Athletic Bent (the Cyclists), the dissolute surfers looking for Waves of the Elliotician Kind, the Lunartics, the Gannsters. But no "Big Boys".

Who are the "Big Boys"? Do they gather in a dimly lit, smokey room to plot the down fall of Mums and Dads? Nope.

The "Big Boys" are the market makers, the big brokers who can see the order flow on their books, the investment bankers using algorithmic trading bots to to continually test for supply and demand, the hedge funds using fundamental analysis to make decisions about the market then use colossal amounts of money to push the market one way or another.

This is not a conspiracy theory. They don't necessarily talk with each other, although there's plenty of chatter within the big firms. It's a self-reinforcing information feedback loop of loosely connected people who move the markets.

The "Big Boys" is a metaphor for that complex of people whose decisions the likes of me and others here attempt to second guess - or maybe - just follow.

Good luck with the Crappy Portfolio - there's a Low coming soon. I guess that makes me a Weather Man. :)
