hopping mad.. rubbish public school system, page-34

Long thread, but have read enough to say, my daughter went to Catholic private school. Wife Catholic and I am not.

Happy with teachers and school.

High school , went to State Public.

Happy with teachers performance and school.

Daughter gets mostly "A".

I put this down to her hard work and attitude.

Her mother to her credit pushes her to get good grades.

My wife is a shift worker, and I asked my daughter what she thought about when Mum does night shifts.

I was not prepared for her answer.

" I prefer when Mum doesn't do night shifts because she makes me study, and you don't."

WOW! I never push her for she gets good grades, however no thanks to me.

Point being, teachers , even good one s are not the complete answer.

Parents must get involved, luckily for my daughter, my wife does.

In my school days, my experience was that their are good teachers and bad. My school Principal noticed my class was not doing well and changed teachers.

That was our saviour.

I would like to see school Principals have the power like a Managing Director of a large company with the ability to hire and fire teachers.

Schools where Principals and teachers get good results with their students from previous year should get a bonus in their pay.
