I invested in a lifeproof cover, because it is also waterproof, I take my phone out on the water.
Anybody with half a brain knows, that you are extremely lucky if you don't break your screen, if you drop it unprotected from 1.5 metres high.
If you don't wish to invest in a lifeproof cover there are cheaper alternatives.
However this sounds a bit like the Winnebago driver........
