Mum and her siblings would collect a couple of sacks of shell grit each morning before school at Cockburn Sound to help with making some cash for the family.
Sure it isn’t the same as a Pygmy tribe but it was just part of life for them in the mid 50’s.
As you know, I’m a primary producer/ hunter by trade.
Sure I use the modern day stuff but I also can do it Old school.
I can and do engage in hunting/gathering activities and I do the whole process from catching, killing, butchering and cooking my food.
I understand that most people today, struggle to unwrap a cheeseburger in our society but outside of the urban environment most people are barely a generation out of the old ways.
Mum has passed now and fortunately she didn’t spend her life needing to catch rabbits but she did remember how too.
