given what we do know from the reports of him isolating himself from his family and remaining in his room for long stretches of days, its more logical to assume that he had a mood disorder. couple this with autism, and this covers a very wide spectrum, and further issues come into play.

add to that the cowardly attack on small children and the contentious matter of suicide by police and there is an indication that mental illness would explain much of the scenario.
