    With regard to y12, all the students are handicapped via standardisation or normalisation that is applied to the raw marks. Outside of a tiny group in the education departments, no one actually knows what any student got as a raw mark. Only the standardised result is published.

    This even goes on at universities. When I was an undergrad, my father worked at the university and most years I received my raw marks before any results were published. The final result always differed slightly. The worst change was a pass downgraded to a post exam. Bummer!

    Reminds me of the cartoon town in an American comic series were all the students are above average...
