Maybe I'm just cynical but the timing of this announcement (on the same day as their quarterly/end of year results) seems fishy! I think I remember Doug (CEO) mentioned something last year about on hospital's bad experience with the pump and their desire not to continue. For sure in today's conference call something will be discussed on the matter.

Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center - a top hospital in the field of implanting heart devices - has stopped using an experimental heart pump made by HeartWare International (HTWR), according to Reuters. The hospital stopped using the device after a patient's blood clot caused the device to malfunction.
