The seed for the demise of Great Southern were earlier set. I worked from 2003 for 4 Years in the Great Southern area and know for a fact that GS bought farms will nilly - they had to use the money coming in from the MIS participant. The trees needed a minimum rainfall area of 900mm pa and they bought land at the 600 mm pa level. Guess what happened to the trees? criminal - the only winner were the farmers which sold the land to GS for good money and bought it back later on as farming land. IMO
