I would have been no use to the Germans, but it would have provided a major loss of POL to the Soviets, just when they needed the mobility. Whilst the Russians could and did move oil via trains, they too were in range of the German airforce.

Image the Soviets losing their fuel supply and mobility whilst the Germans kept theirs.......

Instead of being locked in Stalingrad had the Germans looked at the strategic picture instead.......Always look at teh bigger picture.
