    Dear Ghost,

The milk from cows is definitely as a result of the cow having had a calf. The calf can manage without milk after a few months, and it is the farmer who continues to milk the animal, but also ultimately gives her a rest - as in lets her go 'dry' after a period of time. It is not perpetual. She must have plenty of good food in order to produce high yields of milk, so she must be well cared for. A cow that is frightened will not produce milk, so she must be kept calm.

As for the unfertile egg argument, you are absolutely incorrect in what you say.

Chickens WILL lay eggs without the need to be inseminated. Ducks WILL lay eggs without being inseminated.

Even a fertilised egg is dormant until such time as heat is applied to bring the egg into 'action'.

You can keep a carton of fertilised eggs in a cool place for a couple of weeks, taking care to turn them at alternating 45 deg angles every couple of days, and then place it under a hen or in an incubator and only then will the embryo begin to form.

Life will begin at that point... and if heat or warmth is not applied, life will not begin.

All the eggs you get from the supermarket are infertile. A rooster does not come anywhere near those hens.

    Fact... not fiction.

    Cheers,
    Tangrams
