in my humble opinion if by day trading you literally mean having to buy and sell within thebsame day then I agree it is glorified gamblying. There are alot of people who through CFDs or options lose life savings not only 9 k. Unfortunately unlike sitting at the TAB or at the Pokies not too many people will define you as a gambler.
As my father use to say, he always wished if I ever strarted to gamble I would lose a fair bit at the strart as this would prevent themuch bigger danger or winning at the start only to lose alot more latter. If you do have any gambling tendencies then buy and hold may be the only option for you.
