Some incredible responses for you on this thread person123.

Many of us have been around the traps for years, and will have nearly all suffered at least one total wipe out, as Brisvegas said earlier.
It's part of hte metamorphosis in learning risk management and getting a trading plan together.

Yes, hard lessons learining not to listen ot every ramp on a forum - and sometimes in the day traders forum, by the time the 3 letter code is out there as running, it's too late, unless you are very early onto it.
Often, shorting the rise is the best money spinner, but not always possible.

You've got to work out what's best for you, and I've found that listening to the most talked about stocks is definitely NOT the best way to make money. - but that's just me.
    We're all different....
You've got plenty of capital left -
now plan the trade and trade the plan!

For some, it's blue chips and dividends, for others it's picking up the little known spec that is just building into something interesting, and for others it's jumping on the daily mover, with many varieties in between.

    Charting?
    Fundamental?
    A mixture of both?

Knowing that many of us bleieve we are living in a market full of corruption only makes it more difficult.
You only have to look at hte Dow on Friday night, when the non farm payroll news awas attrocious, but the plunge protection team appeared to rescue the dow TWICE in one session......
It's a false economy, so you need to be very wary out there imo, sensibly, and with the knowledge that on any given day the market may not respond as you expect it to.

We are in an exciting field here of trading and investing.
Failures are enormous - you only have to look at the names that come and go over the years in membership to understand the price of failure, and not learning to move with the ebb and flow of the market.

If you don't work out what is the right thing for you, you are very likely to join the names that drop off the board, so take some of the advice that's been offered higher up the thread.

We have some superb posters and traders on Hot Copper.
