Schools hit by bun ban
SCHOOL chiefs have banned hot cross buns from canteens to avoid upsetting non-Christians.
Four councils outlawed the traditional Good Friday food so Muslims, Hindus and Jews would not be offended.
There were complaints when pancakes were served to school kids on Shrove Tuesday in Tower Hamlets, East London.
Tower Hamlets, Liverpool, York and Wolverhampton councils are taking part in the ban.
A spokesman for Tower Hamlets council said: “We can’t risk a similar outcry over Easter like we had on pancake day.
“We’ll probably be serving naan breads instead.”
