As a PLA watcher, I can say that their announcement makes me very nervous about investing in SA. Smokey Hills should have been a very profitable mine, but was making a loss due to the lack of production rate and seemingly due to the lack of skill of their original workforce which was taken largely from the local community. They either went with a new workforce or ran out of money.

So, they went with a new workforce and now get hit by the DMR presumably as a direct result. It isn't hard to see that the local community is peeved judging by the attack on the van that ended in the death of a worker.
