Doesnt the Government estimate quote total expected cost over the lifecycle of the equipment?
So the Minister quotes $7bn total cost, with $4bn for initial product acquisition and 5 year support contract. The $7bn cost as per Defence process would include expected future sustainment and capital maintenance costs adjusted for inflation.
If you take a $7bn total cost on 129 vehicles to $21bn for 450 then it then makes sense. Per unit cost under 129 is up.
Hopefully the Government has mandated the T2000 turret.
