All he can say is 100% borefield and some protection from bad weather. The reality is KLL and SO4 both have significant bore fields. Borefield v trench is better with respect to long term grade dilution but we are talking years. Trench is susceptible to rainfall and dilution but let’s not forget the starting potassium concentration at the best trench project is 175% the grade at Lake Wells. So it can rain but the trench grade is likely to still be better than the Lake Wells grade. Furthermore evaporation is higher elsewhere so that offsets some of the weather protection advantage. Once the brine is in the ponds the bores offer no protection from rain but grade and better evaporation help. SO4 used reverse flotation, this is a difference to Lake Wells but most of the projects have more in common than not. The standout in terms of technical difference from ponds to plant is RWD and they are about to patent their own processing technique. Its clearly frustrating for APC. The amount of debt they were chasing always looked ambitious but they seemed confident. Hopefully they can secure a cornerstone equity investor if the bank debt drags on.
