Got caught up in the delay on the motorway due to tanker rollover. When he got to the course was very hot and sweaty so was taken for a hose down. Coming out of the bay he slipped on wet concrete and for want of a better explanation stubbed his toe and shifted the race plate. Part of the plate then gouged into the soft part of his hoof producing copious blood. He had to be treated to stop the blood flow so then two issues - race day treatment and he was lame in his off hind leg so scratched - either issue would have done it. The good news is we had word today that he is sound again this morning but his preparation has been interrupted twice now and decision made to send him for a short break and come back mid-April for a go at the second tier autumn/winter races - first up Ascot Handicap 18/4, BRC Sprint, and eventually another go at the Eyeliner.
Racing is a hard game - two years running he has been on target to peak in the same Magic Millions QTIS race, the race he won 2018, and injury has thwarted.

Well good news that he came through ok - the tanker really played games last week. Might be good time for a break anyway this smoke haze around the country is really taking a toll.
You have to look at that kind of stuff long term as well imo .... deep breathing that smoke haze in hard exercise probably take its toll in months years to come more than today tomorrow or next week.
