my comment wasn’t in regards to building on the river front, it was in reference to the increasing release of land on ‘reclaimed’ floodplains, plus the approved subdivisions in known flood areas.
Brisbane is one of the worst for it, add to this the failed upgrade of the flood water system that now just pushes the water further out into suburbs that never previously flooded.
I think the ABC are drawing a long bow here, perhaps there’s some correlation, but I’d dare say there’s far more other reasons that are the cause of the increase
