Moore the merrier

Property wise it has been a busy few weeks for Colinton Capital boss Simon Moore, who is presumably amassing capital given his recent $35m acquisition in Sydney’s wealthy Vaucluse.

He has just sold a five-bedroom beachfront property fronting Bronte Marine Drive, Bronte that hit the market at about $18m and, to the north, scored $14.25m for his Arakoon Crescent, Sunshine Beach property at auction last weekend.

It is billed as the highest beachfront block sale in that area in years, according to the selling agents Tom Offermann and Tim McSweeney of Tom Offermann Real Estate.

Moore paid $3.4m for the site near Noosa in 2004, building an architect-designed house on the site. Offermann says the Sunshine Beach beachfront houses were selling for less than $200,000 in the 1980s, adding that the “$14.25m paid … will in time seem cheap”.

The agent would not be drawn on the buyer’s identity. Moore and wife Lucinda Cowdry purchased the Vaucluse mansion of Hong Kong arts patron Yang Yang in July, paying about $35m.
