Houses are a bit different to crude oil being pumped. The crude has come out of the ground and needs to be stored somewhere, and the storage facilities are at capacity, so people are paying in the short term for this to be stored, that's why the contract has gone negative. It'll bounce back once the supply/demand recalibrates.
