Thanks for the reply Dan. Yes I have read that the boom & crash of the 80s is different to today's scenario. My old folks have told me that you used to be able to get a personal loan to use as a deposit for a mortgage which surely wouldn't happen now (although 95%+ loans have been available in the past few years).

It's an interesting situation we're at today. I'm slightly leaning towards the "bust" rather than the "boom" but I'm young, dumb and...you know the rest ;)

Keen on buying a property (to live in) but I'm quite happy to sit on the sidelines watching & waiting (and saving).
