I must say I'm surprised a conservative (Abbott) government hasn't done anything about it. I can't imagine Abbott personally would be happy equalising our living standards to large developing economies by taking in their population/congestion. Thing is once we take in all these hundreds of thousands of people, you can't change your mind if you decide it wasn't such a smart idea...
