That's why I'm looking at physical gold again. It's just that it's a pain to hold safely and securely. A real pain and a worry. I don't trust security boxes or other holding means.

But I know one thing, before the outbreak of WW2 my french grandfather took ALL his money out of the bank and bought high-grade diamonds (from Belgium or Amsterdam somewhere like that) which he buried in the backyard, along with his antique duelling pistols Later the banks were liquidated and all firearms of any description had to be surrendered.

After the war he dug the lot up and it was worth a bluddy fortune. They lived hand to mouth during the war but they moved to the country so they could be largely self sufficient.

I've got a photo my grandmother took of her husband, and her brother after a pleasant stroll in the summer in Brittany. Within 12 months everything had gone to the sh!t. they were separated she in occupied france, he in England and her brother POW in Germany.

In order to understand the future you must understand the past.
