I believe you are correct that the 30's and 40's own most of the rental properties, and I am certainly no 'anti boomer'.
I was simply replying to boss's view that it's all about excuses.
Clearly the boomer's access to what now appears to be 'reasonable' property cemented its importance to them as an asset class (quite rightly) and, particularly over the past ten years, this view has seemingly been handed down to the next generation as a 'given'. The impact of this has been the perceived view that property ownership is a must at any price and a risk-free imvestment class.
As house valuations have now moved so far ahead of their long-term trend, I would suggest that this is simply no longer the case.
