‘Canada became the first G7 nation to start cutting interest rates today, and signaled that more rate cuts will follow. The Bank of Canada cut rates for the first time since 2020 to 4.75%. What's Next? This signals a major shift from the aggressive rate hikes we've seen in recent years.’

Australia 4.35% usually has higher cash rate than the US 5.5%. From memory the long term average is 1.7% above the US cash rate. So we got some way to go — unless US falls.

I could be wrong, but I think the RBA will ride it out, keeping the cash rate steady while unemployment is low and the Gov is still handing out tax cuts and wage increases.

Either way, a negative bias on the cash rate will likely be positive for housing.
