lash, ever stop to think that the rise is a result of FHBers jumping on the grant (and digging themselves into a big hole at the same time.)
vendors and real estate agents aren't stupid, the prices have gone up to some degree because a bunch of property noobs have 14-21k more to play with than they should have.
i'm all for abolishing the stupid thing altogether (and im still eligible for it.)
no doubt they will all cry poor when the rate rises force them to cut their losses, and ill bet quite a few grants were spent on mod-cons and not paid directly off the principal of loan like it should have been... perhaps then they would have had a larger buffer between managing their mortgage and having to bail out on it altogether.
