The Australian Bureau of Statistics says weekly earnings grew by 0.6 per cent during the quarter.

There was a 4.7 per cent rise in wages for the year in seasonally-adjusted terms.

ANZ senior currency strategist Tony Morris says the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) will give more weight to yesterday's wage price index, which shows only moderate growth, when it decides whether to raise interest rates again.

"This just adds to the view perhaps that wage numbers, or the pulse of wages as reported in the official numbers, is not that strong," he said.

"But the RBA has already indicated that they're watching anecdotes of some rising underlying pressures."
