The problem with the "only let immigrants settle in regional areas" argument is that there are very few skilled jobs in the regions. Some, but not a lot.
So you can't really say only bring in skilled migrants, and, they should move to the regions in the same argument.
My understanding is that the vast majority of immigrants to Australia are skilled. As below, skilled workers made up 70% of adult migrants.
