Everyone is waiting to see if the situation in the US triggers a slow-down in China. Have a look at the chart for any of the Chinese markets... scary.
If China comes off the boil then worldwide supply and demand for commodities will become more balanced again, causing a drop in the likes of BHP and RIO. Miners could well be "stage 2" of the current downturn.
