Good for you.
I for one think BHP has great long term fundamentals.
All I ever argue is timing on tops and lows.
The old school of investing believed in a balance of equities and bonds or equities and cash which would see you rebalance every year.
SO if you had a great boom in share prices, then your 70:30 or 6:40 rule would have you sell shares and place more in bonds or cash.
When shares collapsed then instead of wanting to bargain hunt but having no money to do so, you would rebalance again moving bonds or cash to shares.
Sounds too simple doesn't it?
It is simple but how many have the discipline to set aside cash in a boom?
