I agree with you Jousting. Granny flats seen as great but look at the issues. Recent story I heard. Guy decides to build granny flat back of his rental. Construction starts front tenants move out. Front vacant for 3 months. $70k for granny build plus no carport and poor parking. Gets tenant for granny flat at $150pw, has to drop rent $50 for front. All sweet till all neighbours start complaining about noise and traffic close to their back fences. End result $100pw to pay off $70k,three adjoining properties loss of amenity and harder to find tenants. Typical government quick fix but a long term disaster.
