If you hadn't apologised so nicely I would have been tempted to point out your ducking and weaving given that the OP was about CGT on property you live in. And that saying "difficult for first home buyers to compete and buy homes" implies them being out of reach.

My point on NZ CGT wasn't about ownership, it was about the Australian government sticking their hand out every time someone takes steps to generate wealth which in turn reduces dependancy on the state and stimulates the economy. So therefore my contempt to the suggestion that they should get a piece of action from the family home.
