    The provision of "Capital Gains Tax Free" holding of an owner/occupier home was partly decided on the basis that there were economic and social benefits associated with home ownership that should be encouraged.

    Personally I agree.

    Owner occupiers tend to spend on renovating, spend on maintenance, spend on improvements, spend to furnish, care for their property, look after it, insure it etc etc

    I'm okay with that and the associated tax break.

    If you think the tax break provides a benefit then don't be silly and have the best go you can at utilising it.

    People don't buy houses (especially the first one) without making sacrifices
