Well that is the whole argument as to why housing should be kept affordable to most of the population. Unaffordable housing results in future generations being unable to buy homes and becomes a drag on the government down the track, as they may have no assets in retirement and may require public housing or rental assistance.
Its pointless telling everyone they need to buy a home when you have policies in place that make it more difficult for people to buy.
