Hey all SIP holders,

I wrote a quick message to SIP asking some information concerning the sale of the pharmaceutical division to Aspen and time frame for any potential special dividends. It was the following:

"Hello, I have a quick question and any help would be greatly appreciated. I am inquiring about the potential 'special dividends' that Sigma would pay if the sale of the pharmaceutical division to Aspen is complete. I was wondering if there is any indication of how much the dividends might be but also when the company would announce such information. Would it be quickly once the sale is complete on the 25th of November or would we be looking at months? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, GC"

Their response was as follows:

"Thank you for your enquiry. The sale of the Pharmaceutical Divisions for A$900m would retire much of the group's outstanding debt thus giving rise to the possibility a paying a special dividend. The Board has not given any indication of the possible amount at this stage. In terms of timing, the sale must be approved by the shareholders at an Extraordinary General Meeting which is likely to take place in January 2011, given the regulatory requirements. Therefore it is unlikely that any special dividend would be paid until at least the first quarter of the new fiscal year, around February to March.

Surprisingly their response was very rapid and much more informative than i thought that i was going to receive which was a great surprise. From her message it seems that they will definitely be considering the special dividends which is good to hear and that the decision will be made at the General Meeting. What does everyone think?
