I have never owned shares in Sigma but I keep an eye on it because my late father in law, Alan Hobbs, was the managing director back in the 1970s.

In the mid 1970s, Mainline, Australia's biggest office builder, went bust after purchasing Sigma's city building and nearly took Sigma under with them.

The late Alan Hobbs guided Sigma through the Mainline cash crisis and saw them settle into the Clayton site before having a stroke in 1976. You could say that Alan Hobbs gave his life saving Sigma.

Alan Hobbs would be turning over in his grave [I mean Urn] if he could see this once great Australian company in crisis once again.

Can Sigma be saved and what needs to be done to save it?
