Ivermectin cost less than $5 to treat a covid case. It would not be a multi-billion dollars market.
The treatment that India was using was 3 12mg Ivermectin tablets over 3 days for cases and contacts were given 1 tablet immediately and another 6 days later. Subsequently daily delta variant new cases dropped from 400,00 per day to about 24,000 cases per day. These cases are likely in Kerala and another state which followed WHO guidelines and relied on vaccinations.
For unknown reasons India has stopped recommending Ivermectin and if doctors follow the new guidelines I would expect new cases to rise. India is certainly pressing ahead with vaccination figures. Maybe it hopes to sell its own vaccine on the world market.
