I've spent most of the past years in Thailand and agree - doing business is not something you want to do. As mentioned above a lot of smiles while stabbing you in the back. Law or law enforcement doesn't really works either, it's just who you know and how much you have.

Btw Poipet won't cut it for expats - it's a smelly shithole where you don't want to spend an extra minute. And the border is known as one the most unfriendly in Thailand.
