• In the last week, an additional 11 reports of blood clots and low blood platelets have been assessed as confirmed or probable TTS. Ten of these were in individuals aged 60 years or over. None of these cases were fatal.

Meanwhile almost 400 people are in hospital in NSW alone.

Almost 400 cases in NSW hospitals

NSW Deputy Chief Health Officer Dr Marianne Gale says 391 people are in hospital with COVID-19 in her state.

There are 63 COVID-positive patients in intensive care and 30 of these people require ventilation, she said.

Of the 63 in ICU, four are aged in their 20s, six in their 30s, five in their 40s and 15 in their 50s. Dr Gale said 55 of the 63 are not vaccinated.

A women aged in her 40s, who died in Cabramatta was a close contact of a confirmed case.
The woman tested positive on August 7 and was unvaccinated.

A man, aged in his late 90s, had died at Hawkins Masonic Village in Edgeworth, Newcastle.
He had received both doses of the vaccine.
