Regional consolidation...for the Cameroon rail line > The construction of a railway line connecting Mbalam to the port of Kribi brings the Nkout iron exploitation project into contention. Located about thirty kilometers from the town of Djoum, this mining deposit has a potential of 3 billion tonnes of ore. The company Caminex, a subsidiary of the Libyan Foreign Bank, which revealed the mine on this site, intends to sign a mining agreement in order to develop this project.

Along the proposed rail line from Sangha to Pointe-Noire, there is Zanaga (400km NE of Pointe-Noire). The rail operator could transport the 'northern (Sangha) cluster' of 62%+ FE down through the ROC, pick up the 32% at Zanaga (6B tonnes), and mix it at the Port terminal before shipping or processing at a Steel Mill.
