Unfortunately, I just learnt (and I should have remembered) that that's not how off-market buybacks work. They are usually at a discount to the market price with a capital and a dividend component (see JB Hifi's 2022 Off-Market Share Buyback Booklet as a helpful reference - between $40-$50 per share with only a $3.18 capital component). The problem being that any dividend component would be unfranked in HZN's case - further discouraging participation. On-market buybacks don't suffer the same limitations but are subject to other restraints previously discussed on here. Back to the drawing board...
