    Anning was elected by special countback ordered by the High Court as he was third on the PHON senate ticket.
    He wasn't appointed as can happen when a Senator resigns.

    He replaced Malcolm Roberts who was second on the PHON QLD senate ticket behind Pauline.
    Roberts being found ineligible to stand due to his dual citizenship wasn't strictly speaking actually elected.
