Try telling the millions of families who have lost loved ones from starvation and disease that God's word can be trusted... aah, but hang on, God did say there would be consequences because Adam and Eve ate fruit that they were forbidden, and now, thousands of years and countless generations later humans are still paying reparations for this evil act.
Maybe, after all, we can trust God's word even if it displays a total lack of empathy.
