I have mainly found them very strict. I had a tiny mortgage on my house in Sydney when I asked for emergency money to cut down a massive huge tree that was threatening to kill my house. Oh the song and dance act I had to go through with a massive equity. I lost patience and just rang there credit card division and asked for a credit limit increase and it was done over the phone and the scary tree removed. So was easier to get unsecured finance. Go figure but to be honest credit card debt is the scariest, like 3rd world nation interest rates...tough reminds me..
When I lived in the US..this is close to 20 years ago..they used to send me credit cards in the mail. No request, approved and ready to use, just call to verify id and arrange pin . That was a sign now I reckon!
