Part of that yarn is true, part of it is political propaganda.

I had my business from before Whitlam till 9 years ago, when I sold out. So I know what I am talking about.

I never sacked an employee. Yes, I had to reduce working hours during part of the Whitlam time and during the "recession we had to have".

But in the end both downturns turned out to be beneficial for well run businesses.
