Expect the usual copout when govts explain doubtful payouts: commercial-in-confidence. Yet contracts involving vast sums of taxpayer money should be transparent.
Regarding the French deal Scomo indicated at the time of the cancellation that 'a gate' in the contract had been reached through which they chose not to proceed any further. So clearly there were get-out clauses built into the contract and, presumably, compensation attached.
Question is did this amount reflect the huge payout granted. And where's the media demanding to see the terms and conditions of this contract?
