Serous question Andy777 because I am not trying to criticise as I understand your contrarian thinking.

Given shares are a long-term investment to be held, I struggle to see Scentre and Westpec giving any meaningful long term capital growth due to technological changes in how we shop/spend money and the continuation of Australian economic growth (particularly housing) and the way we can transact without the need for banks to exchange money. It could be a value trap that affects other areas like the Media sector (excluding Domain). IOOF could also be the next AMP if they aren't careful, you would be better off with Challenger as a non-bank aligned financial company due to the annuity and FUM growth which is more appealing and organic. Have you considered healthcare, i.e. Sonic Healthcare (partly franked) based on the long-term fundamentals (I know it's not contrarian). I know you can't get much diversification from a small bundle of stocks. Just getting an idea to your thought process aside from income, capital loss minimisation and contrarian position as strong factors as we could argue energy and the telecommunication sectors are at cyclical lows too but offer more long-term upside I would have thought.
