It will need to be made as safe as petrol but at what cost? The volatility and ability of hydrogen to permeate through molecular structure make it a far more difficult fuel to store and transport.
Has anyone calculated the CO2 emissions per Kw at the wheels for this Victorian brown coal hydrogen once it gets to the vehicle in Japan and compared that to an EV in Japan using power from one of their 18 coal fired powered stations?
I would guess at somewhere between 4 and 6 times the emissions into the atmosphere which is the most important factor to consider. To increase those emissions to any degree simply to shift the location of the open sewer is unconscionable.
